Despite numerous dog poisonings Bowen Rd still continues to be a favorite dog walking spot in Mid-Levels.
It feels kind of wrong to walk your dog there despite knowing about these murders. However, even though Bowen Rd seems to be the ‘dog poisoner’s' favorite spot, they can possibly move away and leave bait in any location in the mid-levels/peak area, some poisonings also occurred in Lamma Island just a few months ago so rather than strict avoidance it is more important to be wary of your dog’s whereabouts while walking him.
The thing you have to watch out for usually is pieces of chicken that are contaminated with powerful insecticides. And in case of emergency immediately take your dog to an emergency vet clinic like the SPCA Wanchai and they will induce vomiting. If more than a few hours have passed your dog will most likely need extra medical attention so time is of the essence.
Sombre things aside Bowen road is a great place to go jogging with your dog especially if you live in mid-levels, there are only a few roads like these with a clear pathways ideal for running.
